It is true that skillful surgery can achieve a lot in helping your face to look fresh and ‘youthful’ for longer. But not everyone has this option, or would choose it even when they do.
If you prefer a gentler and less costly approach to ageing gracefully, there are things you can do starting now to have glowing, healthy skin – at every age.
Drink at least eight glasses of water every day. Yes, I know you’ve heard that advice before – but did you know it’s critical for skin health to get enough water? It’s true. If you want better skin and do only one thing, do this.
How good is your face cleanser? If you’re using bar soap, chances are you will see a difference in your skin if you switch to a gentle, natural facial cleanser. Go for one that is specifically designed for your skin. If unsure what type skin you have, choose the one for sensitive skin.
Never start smoking and if you already do, quit now. Along with the many other harmful effects, smoking dries and ages your skin and is a direct cause of wrinkles.
Use natural skin care products including your facial cleanser, toner and moisturizer. You will also need an eye cream that is especially gentle and natural as the skin around your eyes is thin, and it gets even thinner and more delicate with age. One I can recommend because it is light, gentle and it works is Revitol Eye Cream.
Pat your face dry after washing with lukewarm or cool water. Keep your hands off your face, as much as possible. When you apply make-up, or creams such as Revitol Eye Cream, pat very gently with the ball of your second finger – never rub.
Avoid sun exposure on your face. When you are outside, even on overcast days, wear an oil-free sunblock (there are now a wide range of lip balms, make-up and moisturizers that contain sunblock) and always wear sunglasses and a hat.
Take a multivitamin that contains zinc for skin health.
A good skin care routine doesn’t take a lot of time, and it soon becomes a healthy habit that can pay off with big results you will see, every time you look in the mirror.
